Bite-wing x-rays

Detect tooth decay and changes in bone thickness caused by gum disease. Bite-wing x-rays can also assist in determining the proper fit of a crown (a cap that surrounds a tooth) or other restorations (eg, bridges). It can also detect any wear or deterioration of dental fillings.

Dental X-rays

Panoramic x-rays show the entire mouth on a single x-ray, including all of the teeth in both the upper and lower jaws. This x-ray detects the position of fully emerged and emerging teeth, as well as impacted teeth and tumors.

Cephalometric X-ray

Projections show one side of the head at a time. This x-ray examines the teeth of the individual’s jaw and profile. Orthodontists use this x-ray to customize each patient’s teeth realignment strategy.

CBCT

Dental cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is X-ray equipment used when traditional facial and dental X-rays are insufficient to detect the underlying issues. This technology is used by specialists to create 3-D images of teeth and gums to highlight complicated nerve paths and soft tissues.
