As we say is life-changing many changes happen in a woman not only mentally but physically as well. That is why it is critical to select an experienced and excellent Obstetrician. An Obstetrician is a doctor specializing in providing medical during pregnancy (antenatal) and after pregnancy (postnatal care). Pregnancy is happy yet it is also a very complicated period in a woman’s life.

At Arwa & Ali Dental & Day Surgical Center we can provide the following antenatal care:

  • Management of low-risk pregnancy – low risk means there are no current complications for both the mother and baby.
  • Management of high-risk pregnancy – high risk means there are increased health risks for both the mother and the baby. This could be due to the mother having certain ongoing health issues or age is also a contributing factor to having a high-risk pregnancy.
  • Pre-natal checkups.

At Arwa & Ali Dental & Day Surgical Center we can provide the following postnatal care:

  • Mother and baby care immediately after birth.
  • Postnatal checkups.

Normal Vaginal Delivery

Vaginal delivery is when a woman gives birth by passing through the vagina. It is the most widely used and preferred method of delivery. Primarily, because the risks are lower and there are natural benefits for both the mother and the newborn baby. It occurs between 37 to 42 weeks of pregnancy. If normal delivery does not happen during this period and the mother is past the due date by over two weeks it will risk the mother and the fetus’s health. Thus, the Obstetrician may recommend induced labor. Induced labor is when medical professionals use medicines and or methods to make a mother start to labor. Or a cesarian delivery may be recommended which is another type of delivery.

Caesarean Section Delivery

Cesarian delivery or C-Section is a type of delivery through surgical means. The baby is taken and passed through a surgical incision made in the abdomen and the uterus. Planned C-sections are rarely done and recommended. But when it is needed here are the top reasons a doctor will recommend C-section:

  • When the baby is in the breech position when the feet are facing out first from the uterus.
  • Labor progress is abnormal or it is not progressing and the cervix is not opening at least 10 centimetres.
  • Placenta previa when the placenta is covering the opening of the uterus.
  • When the fetus is in distress and has an irregular heartbeat rate.
  • When the mother is carrying more than one baby (twins, triplets, etc.)
  • Preeclampsia or gestational concerns on the mother (high-risk pregnancy).
  • Block in the birth canal such as a large fibroid or the baby’s head is bigger than the birth canal.
  • Umbilical cord prolapses when the baby’s umbilical cord went out first in the open cervix before the baby.
  • Previous c-section or repeat CS or when mother had a cesarian delivery before.
